This report introduces the SMART shoe rack, an innovative product designed to address the concerns about harmful germs and viruses, including COVID-19, on footwear.
Recognizing the need for a convenient and effective solution, my team embarked on a comprehensive development process guided by the three stages of the Innovation Value Chain: Idea Generation, Idea Conversion, and Idea Diffusion.
The Idea Generation stage involved brainstorming sessions that fostered innovative concepts. The objective was to leverage technology to simplify daily tasks and make people's lives easier.
The Idea Conversion stage started with Idea Selection, where we applied techniques like Item-by-item, Spend $100, and PMI (Plus, Minus, Interesting) to screen ideas and select those with the most potential. The second phase, Idea Development, involved creating a prototype of the SMART shoe rack to understand how the innovation works. We used the six serving men technique, examining the product from twelve different perspectives by asking questions like "What," "Where," "When," "How," "Why," and "Who."
Finally, the Idea Diffusion stage recognized the value of user feedback. We engaged in a feedback loop with classmates, distributing surveys and actively soliciting suggestions to refine the product for optimal functionality and user experience.
